Written security plans for tax and accounting offices
Federal law requires every paid tax preparer to have a written information security plan (WISP). We’ll write yours, set up the protections it describes, and keep it current, so you can confirm it with confidence when you renew your PTIN.

Why it matters
Under the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, tax and accounting offices count as financial institutions, whatever their size. The FTC Safeguards Rule requires a written plan, and preparers confirm they have one each time they renew their PTIN. A template sitting in a drawer doesn’t count. The protections it describes have to actually be in place.
How we do it
Review your setup
We look at your computers, accounts, and backups, and at how client data moves through your office.
Write the plan
We write your WISP using the IRS Publication 5708 framework, tailored to how your office works.
Put it in place
We set up the protections the plan calls for, such as two-step login, encryption, backups, and access controls.
Keep it current
On a monthly plan, we keep everything running and update the plan as your office changes.
Pricing
A written and implemented WISP starts at $350.
Ongoing upkeep is part of any Managed IT Plan.
